Go to the bookstore. Find the hardback version of Barbara Kingsolver's
The Lacuna. Turn to page 186. Read page 186-187. The section title is
Coyoacán notebook. Cry, because you will never read anything better. Then get yourself together, take the book to the register, buy it, and read the whole thing.
This kind of writing is why many writers don't read while they are writing. Because it is too damn depressing to think how far our writing is from hers.
